The International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV) is an international scientific organization that focuses on the study of extracellular vesicles (EVs). Established in 2011, the society is a non-profit entity and a 501(c)(3) corporation in the United States. ISEV is governed by an executive committee. The current president of ISEV (2012-2016) is Jan Lötvall. The society publishes the ''Journal of Extracellular Vesicles'', the only journal devoted to the topic. == Meetings == As part of its mission to promote research and education, ISEV hosts an annual meeting as well as numerous workshops. Annual meetings include: * 2011: Paris (France, organizational meeting) * 2012: Gothenburg, Sweden * 2013: Boston (Massachusetts, United States) * 2014: Rotterdam (Netherlands) * 2015: Washington, DC (preceded by an Educational Day held in conjunction with the Extracellular RNA Communication Consortium of the US National Institutes of Health) * 2016 (scheduled): Rotterdam (Netherlands) Educational events are devoted to defined fields of extracellular vesicle research, including: * Extracellular RNA (New York City, 2012); * Diagnostics and Therapeutics (Singapore, 2013); * Isolation and Characterization (Budapest, 2013);〔;〕 and * Proteomics and Lipidomics (Melbourne, 2014); * EV-associated RNA: is there a purpose? (Utrecht, Netherlands, scheduled for September, 2015). The society also co-sponsors various events, including an EV therapeutics meeting in Providence (Rhode Island, United States) in June, 2014.
